A Little About Me
Since picking up my first SLR camera, I have been fascinated in how we, as individuals, view our world. I was 16, and I was captivated by the idea of selectively seeing parts of the world and sharing my views through my camera with others. Pursuing a fine art degree helped hone and further engage that creative desire.
For me, seeing an artist's personal perspective is very moving, emotional and effective in eliciting feeling. I enjoy being able to use my personal viewpoint to encourage positive, peaceful feelings. Drawing from the inspiration of masters like Georgia O’Keefe, Alfred Stieglitz and Dorothea Lange, I learned that our personal perspectives provide an audience with a message, a feeling or experience. With this as my basis, I specialize in the simplicity and intricacies of nature and the way it positively affects the human condition. Portraying everyday occurrences and objects in an unusual light, from a point of view that most people may not notice, creating interest and intrigue, is the main focus of my work.
Art affects us all in different ways, and different images trigger different emotions. My focus is to provide images with a unique look at the natural world; a calm serene landscape, a thought evoking flower, creating a positive energy within the interior spaces we occupy on a daily basis. I hope to bring the outside in, providing the calm, peace and wonder of nature within our walls.
As an alumnus of the University of Minnesota with a BA in Fine Art Photography, life has polished my formal education. Now a ten year resident of the Seattle area, I am forever amazed by the world of nature and beauty around this great city.
